The online car sale Sam’s club is offering to auction off some of its inventory has raised eyebrows.
The online auction site is asking for $30 million to help pay for a major renovation of the clubhouse.
Sam’s has been struggling with a major debt that could lead to its bankruptcy.
The sale, which is expected to be the largest online car auctions in the country, is being done in part to help Sam’s overcome a $6 million deficit.
“The club will be remodeled and the club will reopen as a family friendly event, complete with a dining area, lounge, a gift shop, a full bar and a full restaurant,” the listing reads.
“It will be located on the northeast corner of the Sam’s building and on the corner of 18th and S. Main streets.
The building will be demolished to make way for a new and improved facility that will be fully ADA accessible.”
But the listing also suggests that the club could be in for another renovation, something Sam’s says it’s already been working on.
“We will continue to work to ensure our Sam’s facility is able to provide a welcoming environment for our community and members of our community,” Sam’s wrote in a statement to ABC News.
“However, the renovation will not be complete until the completion of the renovation of our historic building.”
